What is Omegaverse?
Contemporary omegaverse (like the PoisonVerse) is a world that mirrors our own—think phones, cars, and celebrity TV. The main difference in this reimagined society is a hierarchy based on 3 designations of citizen: alphas, betas, and omegas.
Each omegaverse can have slightly different rules, but this is usually the gist! And there are, in this case, no shifters—just people.

The Designations
Betas:
Betas are your everyday people that are like the glue in society, keeping things running smoothly. They can hang out with alphas and omegas without drama.
Alphas:
The boss type. Typically strong, in charge, and natural leaders. They are often growly and intense, and can also be really hormonal, protective, and possessive when they claim someone. Alphas also have special equipment that omegas, in particular, love.
In the PoisonVerse, alphas are less common than betas, but more common than omegas as they can somewhat predictably be born to alpha-omega parents.
Omegas:
Omegas are rare, and often paired with an alpha pack. They become the center of the pack, and are sometimes seen as needing protection—but don’t be fooled, because it’s not always that simple. Like alphas, they’re possessive, hormonal and territorial.
In the PoisonVerse, omegas are rare and randomly born.
Other Helpful Terms
Nesting
The really cute part where omegas make super cozy blanket forts. They're getting their space perfect, usually because they're prepping for heat. It's like making the ultimate chill zone for a Netflix binge, but with way more hormones. Nesting can look different for each omega.
Heats
When omegas get super-hormonal and all they can think about is finding an alpha or pack of alphas to get it on. It's like their bodies are saying, "I need s** now”, and it can get pretty intense. In the PoisonVerse they last around 3-7 days and occur around every 3-4 months.
Ruts
When alphas hit rut mode, it's like their inner beast wakes up. They get really into the idea of finding an omega to be all… ‘romantic’ with (ha) especially if an omega is in heat. They get primal, horny, and possessive.
Scent Matches
Basically fated mates! between an alpha (pack) and an omega.
In some Omegaverse worlds, omegas and alphas can have multiple scent matches. In the PoisonVerse, they only get one at a time. Once the scent match locks in, that's it!
Packs
When alphas and omegas are drawn to ‘packing up,’ which is when they bite or bond together and exist as a large family unit. Most packs consist of 3+ alphas with one omega, but betas can join too.

Bond Types
Princess Bonds*
[Open]
'A bond of reverence'
An omega dominated bond. A bond that places the omega in a position of high authority within the pack. This bond can only form between scent-matched mates. If rejected, the omega becomes a duchess (see below), and the rejected pack does not get another scent-matched mate. It's a high-risk bond for alphas to offer.
Visually pearly white marks with a glittery sheen.
Dark Bonds*
[Open]
'A bond of control'
An alpha dominated bond. A dark bond is a bond of ultimate control of an alpha over an omega. It can be claimed by a bite, even without consent. Omegas in a dark bond must follow all commands given to them. Resisting commands leaves them in pain. In the PoisonVerse it is illegal to dark bond an omega unless they are gold pack, or unless they give consent for the bond.
Visually dark marks, leeching poison.
Other
Gold Pack Omegas
[Closed] [PoisonVerse exclusive] Outcast omegas.
Gold pack omegas are omegas who either choose not to go to the Institute within a year of perfuming, or are forcibly kept away . Without the injection the Institute offers, their eyes turn gold, marking them as outcasts and a threat to society's safety. Alpha children birthed by gold packs are Rogues—alphas who are not constrained by laws that keep the population safe. Gold pack omegas are forbidden from having children and are unprotected by many laws designed to keep omegas safe.
Duchesses and Dukes*
[Open]
Omegas who have rejected princess bonds (or rejected their own mates).
They are desired, and their scents are particularly alluring. Rich packs like to have duchesses on their arms for the status they bring. They are usually well-off and have their pick of suitors while they remain packless.
Sweethearts*
[Open]
Beta companions to packs of alphas who don't have omegas and need alternative forms of balancing.
